COMMISSIONING A PAINTING

Yes, I work from photos.  Generally I require several photographs from different aspects to get a feel for the personality of the subject. I also like a written description , showing your connection and feelings for the subject...some animals are serene and composed, others are very different...some are crazy characters ...some really funny clowns .....so many different personalities!!!

I do like to incorporate your ideas as well as my own into the artwork so my initial study is usually in pencil to give you an idea of my thoughts and the composition that I feel would work best.  After your approval I will proceed, sending updates as required.

Although great photos are a big help.  I'm also quite happy to work from lesser quality photos if there are no other options.

PRICES
I work in many different sizes and mediums and this makes it difficult to price things, but starting prices for a single head-study are listed below:
STARTING PRICES BEGIN AT:
Acrylic 40x30cm A$450
Soft Pastels 40x30cm A$450
Mixed Media 40x30cm A$450
Oils 40x30cm A$550

These prices are for an unframed and unmatted single head portrait only, with a simple background - postage is included. If you require a larger painting or there is more than one subject, or a more complex background ...or a full-body portrait is required, the price will be greater reflecting the additional time taken developing and completing the painting.

I'm happy to discuss any of your thoughts or inquiries, and I can be contacted most easily by email...please see contact details!

My aim is to capture expression and liveliness ...it is most important to me that you can feel the life in the portrait and that you are really happy with the results. Here are two examples below, showing the initial sketch and then the final work after input from the client:    A simple head study....and also a more complicated work incorporating a home paddock, mares, and foals by the 'subject' - a wonderful old deceased stallion.   Numerous photos were used in this composition.
